When people ask me about the direction that the web is heading, one of the big trends I talk about is atomisation. This is the idea that instead of your web presence being one website - a destination - there will be bits and pieces scattered all over the place. The idea being that you take your web presence to wherever your target audience is looking, and also open up your information and systems for others to re-use and build upon.
If that all sounds a bit theoretical, we've been writing about this stuff in our social media e-book series (check out the chapters on widgets and mash-ups) and this Thursday there's the Widgety Goodness conference here in Brighton where you can learn all about it and get inspired.
There are some great speakers lined up including our very own Will McInnes. Nixon McInnes are also sponsoring the event so there will be a few of us around - come and say hi.
Hi Tom,
Thanks for all your involvement and for blogging it. If your blog is registered in our WG social network / pre-conference forum at backnetwork and you use the tag wguk07, then the whole conference will get to share this post and your widgety materials! Please help remind others of this and we can cook it all up together. Bestest - Libby
Ps - Remember to let the speakers know what you want on the agenda by posting in our pre-conference forum on backnetwork...
